Astronergy lanza la primera fase de 10 MW de la central fotovoltaica de 100 MW en China

Astronergy (Chint Solar) y sus socios han lanzado formalmente la primera fase de 10 MW de una central eléctrica fotovoltaica de 100 MW en la región independiente Ningxia Hui de China central. Cubriendo inicialmente dos kilómetros cuadrados en la ciudad de Shizuishan en la árida región del desierto de Gobi, que recibe una media de 1.600 horas de luz del sol al año, el proyecto se completará dentro de tres años.

En respuesta a las peticiones de los gobiernos local y regional para el desarrollo de nuevos recursos energéticos, en vista de la combinación única de Ningxia de geografía y meteorología, Astronergy se asoció con una serie de socios de inversión y tecnología para preparar propuestas. La mitad de la primera fase del proyecto utilizará los módulos FV de silicio cristalino (c-Si) convencionales de Astronergy. La otra mitad utilizará la tecnología de película fina de la combinación tándem de silicio amorfo /silicio microcristalino (a-Si/uc-Si), una de las primeras instalaciones del mundo en hacerlo.

A funcionamiento completo, la central eléctrica generará 100 MW de electricidad limpia y renovable. Considerando un consumo diario medio de 2 kWh por familia al día, la central de Astronergy ofrecerá la potencia adecuada para más de 50.000 familias.

Astronergy launches first phase of 100 MW solar project

Today, Astronergy (Chint Solar) and its partners formally launched the first 10 MW phase of a planned 100 MW photovoltaic power station in central China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Initially covering two square kilometers in Shizuishan City in the arid Gobi Desert region, which receives on average 1,600 hours of sunlight per year, the project is expected to be completed within three years.

In response to ongoing local and regional government calls for the development of new energy resources, in light of Ningxia’s unique combination of geography and meteorology, Astronergy teamed up with a number of investment and technology partners to prepare proposals. After several rounds of consultations, demonstration initiatives, and inspections, Astronergy’s power station won strong support from across the board.

Half of the first phase of the project will use Astronergy’s conventional crystalline silicon (c-Si) PV modules. The other half will use Astronergy’s revolutionary new amorphous silicon/microcrystalline silicon tandem junction thin film technology (a-Si/uc-Si) — one of the first photovoltaic installations in the world to do so.

At full buildout, the power station will generate 100 MW of clean and renewable electricity. Considering an average daily consumption of 2 kWh per family per day, the Astronergy station will provide adequate power for over 50,000 families.

Astronergy invests nearly 2 billion RMB on Solar Energy

Nan said, after a few years, the cost of the electricity generated by the second generation thin film solar module will be comparable to the present cost of the electricity produced by coal. The target capacity in 2013 will be 1000 MW.

Right now, Zhejiang Province has implemented the new renewable implementation policy: by the end of 2012, one million square meters roof will be covered by pv system; solar lamps will be installed in 100 streets; the area of the solar thermal panels will be over one million square meters.

Astronergy said it plans to reach 380 MW of production capacity by 2010. Astronergy says it expects to be among the first companies to reduce the PV module cost to below $1 per watt. Tempe, Ariz.-based thin-film giant First Solar recently said it was able to produce thin-film panels for less than $1 per watt.
